The Same Tired Playbook

Go to school. Get good grades. Go to college. Get good grades. Get a job with healthcare. Buy a car with a loan. Get a mortgage. Try to save some for retirement. Work hard for the next 45 years! Enjoy retirement.

Have you been told any of this before?

Its the standard playbook.

I’m not telling you that it is bad advice, it just seems to be the only advice. The truth is this: typically, wealth is not created using this playbook. Time freedom is not created using this playbook. Sure, you can take this route and live a comfortable life, acquire some things and even take some trips. But if you have an entrepreneurial drive, this route will also kill your dream of owning your own business. The longer you stay on this route the further away your dream becomes. In the process, you will spend a lot of time away from your family and more time not doing the things you love. The more you advance your career, yes, you will make more money, but there will be even more demands on your time and attention.

Financial independence comes when you do not need to rely on a typical job for your income. Time freedom comes when you don’t have to work for someone else building their business to make money. Neither of these things come when you follow the same tired playbook.

Chasing time and/or money freedom may not be everyone’s desire.

But if you have ever wanted it, the question you should be asking now is, “What am I going to do about it?”
